Chris Shimojima

From 2012 to 2015, Chris served as the CEO of Provide Commerce, a $650 million specialty retailer of high-quality gifts with its portfolio of well-known brands – ProFlowers, Shari’s Berries, RedEnvelope, Personal Creations, and Gifts.com. Chris successfully engineered the sale of the company to the FTD Group, Inc., in December 2014, and chose to exit the company in March 2015. From 2006 to 2012, Chris was the VP of Global Digital Commerce for Nike overseeing the company’s e-commerce and the NikeiD mass customization businesses in 24 countries. During his tenure, Chris grew the business 5X, delivering ROS approaching 20%. Since leaving Provide Commerce, Chris has focused on board work, mentoring start-ups, and founded C5 Advisory, a boutique consultancy that helps micro/small to middle-market companies accelerate growth through digital channels. In 2017, he co-founded Daasity, a SaaS data analytics company.   Chris serves as an independent board director for Implus Corporation, a portfolio company of Berkshire Partners, Kirkland’s (NASDAQ: KIRK), a specialty retailer of home decor, and Milani Cosmetics, one of the fastest-growing beauty brands in the US today.   Chris was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. Speaks fluent Japanese, graduated Cum Laude from the University of Colorado in Boulder, and earned his MBA from the University of Chicago. He lives in San Diego with his wife, Shirley.
