HOW MONET AI PREDICTED THE EMOTIONAL POWER OF LION KING AROUND THE WORLD

The proprietary AI-powered Monet™ analytics platform that captures subconscious and conscious human emotional response at scale predicted a roaring debut for Lion King after finding viewers around the world were highly engaged emotionally with the movie trailer. Movie-goers across all eight countries studied also registered significantly above average interest in watching the film.

Measuring Nostalgia for The Lion King

Disney placed its bet on nostalgia to break box office numbers, and Monet predicted it would work. Simba and the Circle of Life brought back wistful affection for the past, and triggered record ticket sales for its debut.

Monet captured the reactions of 2,400 viewers in 8 countries within 36-48 hours to quantify the nostalgia triggered by the Lion King trailer

The respondents watched the trailer in their native language while Monet passively captured their subconscious and conscious feelings integrated with geo-centric surveys to measure attitudinal reactions to the characters, music, scenery, and story — both overall and on a scene by scene basis.

Viewers everywhere found lots to love.

The trailer leads by establishing geography, background herd animals, and dark suspense, maintaining a baseline of attention and emotion for 40 seconds. Then emotions jump precipitously when the Zulu lyrics from the Circle of Life song blast through a moment of silence, followed by a close up of tender baby Simba.
Emotional engagement held strong for the remainder of the trailer with viewers smiling through to the end.
